What is Invisalign®?
The Invisalign® System is a breakthrough in orthodontics that straightens teeth using a series of clear and removable plastic or medical-grade polymer appliances called “aligners.”
How does Invisalign® work?
Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to complete a treatment plan from the initial position to the final desired position from which a series of custom-made “aligners” are produced. Each “aligner” moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about two weeks, then replaced by the next in the series until the final position is achieved.
What do “aligners” look like?
Clear plastic “aligners” look similar to clear teeth-whitening trays but are custom-made for a better fit on a case-by-case basis.
Is this a new way to straighten teeth?
While orthodontists have been using removable appliances for very limited treatment for years, it is the application of breakthrough technology that allows the Invisalign® system to treat a much broader range of cases with greater precision.
Where is Invisalign® available?
In the U.S. and Canada
Is Invisalign® FDA approved?
Yes, the Invisalign® System has FDA clearance, meeting all medical device specifications.
How much does Invisalign® cost?
We know cost is a big question for anyone. Only your doctor can determine the cost of your specific treatment. It really depends on the kind of treatment you need, how extensive the issues are that you want corrected, how long your treatment plan will last, where you live, and other factors determined by your dentist or orthodontist.
Can I chew gum while wearing aligners?
No, gum will stick to the aligners. We recommend removing your aligners for all meals and snacks.
